Creating a Purposeful Brand:

How we created The Great Workplaces Company’s brand.

When Pam Herries founded The Great Workplaces Company, she brought with her over 25 years of experience in employee engagement and culture shaping. Pam’s vision was clear: to create purposeful, productive, and profitable companies where employees thrive and customers are delighted. However, to bring this vision to life, Pam needed a brand identity that resonated deeply with her mission. She approached Georgina to discuss the project and from the first conversation, the ideas and inspiration flowed.

Pam first met Georgina at a networking event, and their connection was instant. Both had moved to Scotland from London, and their shared experiences and passions sparked a series of insightful discussions about work, life, and the universe.

From the outset, we delved deep into understanding Pam’s vision. The brand creation process began with defining the brand essence: growing great workplaces. This was followed by articulating the brand’s purpose: to create great workplaces. Pam’s mission, “to create the kind of places my children would be proud to work,” became a cornerstone of the brand’s identity. The promise to share Pam’s vast experience, expertise, and excitement for fostering purpose-minded cultures for current and future generations was also embedded into the brand’s DNA.

The logo for The Great Workplaces Company needed to embody elegance and purpose. Georgina drew inspiration from the world of haute couture, creating a design that exudes sophistication and professionalism. The logo also incorporates elements from Pam’s Purpose Prompts™ cards, which are used to facilitate meaningful conversations about purpose and engagement within companies. Additionally, the Scottish landscapes—both urban and natural—provided a rich source of inspiration, grounding the logo in a sense of place and authenticity.

Our graphic design work for The Great Workplaces Company was meticulous and thoughtful. Every element, from typography to imagery, was chosen to reflect integrity and mindfulness. The design needed to inspire trust and convey a sense of purpose. By integrating elements from the natural world—earth tones, stone textures, and floral motifs—the design evokes a feeling of being grounded and connected to nature. This not only aligns with Pam’s personal preferences but also symbolizes growth and nurturing, key themes in the company’s mission.

Brand photography is a critical component of any brand’s identity, for The Great Workplaces Company, the photography needed to capture the spirit of purpose and engagement. Georgina’s approach begins with building trust and connection through initial consultations, engaging in light, natural conversations during shoots to help clients relax, and choosing familiar, comfortable locations. Georgina emphasizes authenticity over perfection, avoiding staged setups and focusing on candid moments that reflect genuine emotion and character. Her attention to detail, use of natural light, and personalized branding sessions ensure that each photo tells a story aligned with the brand’s identity.
We designed and built The Great Workplaces Company website to align with the brand’s aesthetic and convey Pam Herries’s purpose and style. The website features a clean, elegant design that reflects the company’s commitment to creating purposeful, productive workplaces. Studio Hart incorporated visual elements and colour schemes inspired by Pam’s Purpose Prompts™ cards and the natural beauty of Scottish landscapes, ensuring the site feels both grounded and inspiring. Thoughtful layout and intuitive navigation enhance the user experience, while the content highlights Pam’s extensive expertise in employee engagement and culture shaping. This cohesive digital presence not only showcases The Great Workplaces Company’s mission but also resonates deeply with its audience, reinforcing the brand’s integrity and vision.

The collaboration between The Great Workplaces Company and Studio Hart exemplifies the power of purposeful branding and design. From the elegant logo and thoughtful graphic design to the authentic brand photography and beautifully crafted website, every element was designed to reflect Pam Herries’s mission and style.
